A Thank-Les Job

"That's why we do it…because traveling around the country signing books for mobs of adoring housewives while, back at home, two women inexplicably compete for my affection, is not sufficient to feed my massive ego! I'm saving lives here dammit!"

Bench Depressed

File today's strip under "Les never lets an occasion for a pun go to waste." There was a time when Les' saucy bon mots drew a wry smile from those around him. At some point, however (Kilimanjaro?), the grins turned to grimaces over Les' groaners.

Do you reckon Les sees his dead wife sitting on that empty park bench? On every park bench?

No Country for Old Men

Once again, feeble Funky and lame Les have their fitness routine disrupted by younger, fitter specimens (last time they were on bicycles). Once again, they are forced to yield…and once again, they "slide over" to the wrong side of the path.

Les' Lunacy

Les really needs to get back on that psychiatrist's couch, where we found him five years ago at the beginning of Act III. Yesterday it was the world conspiring against him; today he dares not show his excitement about the Lisa's Legacy Run, lest he draw "unwanted attention from the universe." Th' fuck?

Roadwork Ahead

Okay…just shoot me now. Funky arrives at Moore Manor for what I expect is the beginning of this year's Lisa's Legacy Run story arc. On the plus side, today's panels at least are cheerfully colored; a nice change after yesterday's dismal scene. On the minus side: I may be forced to add tags for "Les' blue Kent State T-shirt" and for every time a character uses the phrase "I rest my case".

Oh Shoot

With our girls finally off to college* (more than a month after classes began), Les turns his attention to the Lisa's Legacy® Run (which had already taken place this time last year) and, uh…oh yeah, the wedding. Cayla, who just a week ago was almost giddy describing the wedding plans, expresses her wish to die. Even Les is taken aback. I'm sure this is meant to be taken as a joke, except Cayla's not smiling: in fact, she looks utterly defeated.

Your humble narrator's feeling a bit defeated too, because once again, the upcoming strips are not available online for preview…even Senor Tortilla's URL workaround isn't working. So it's back to "placeholder" posts again, that will go live at midnight eastern, with a link to the strip and my snark to be added later.

Speech-Les

It rained so much that the red slickers on loan from the band have turned white! As the last drops fall and St. Lisa parts the clouds, Les expresses his gratitude to the participants. His words go largely unheard, however, since the bullhorn he's using lacks a mouthpiece.

Take It Easy, Hon

"I was just hoping to make a different kind of splash this year." Despite the "best turnout ever", Les is not satisfied. Even Cayla is telling him to chillax. What's the matter, Les, has the rain kept all your blue-haired book-signing groupies away?
