Cayla…is not actually a Cassandra; she’s simply predicting doom and gloom without any sense of either having said anything worthwhile or being ignored. In other words, she’s a typical Funky Winkerbean character.sourbelly

Cayla…seems to have suddenly, and for no discernible reason, become a Nattering Nabob of Negativity for no particular reason.Charles

Obviously, Batiuk needs to make Cayla as much of a negative ass as he can so she fits in with the rest of the cast. Sheesh…Can you imagine being a high school athlete, and not simply that, but a good high school athlete, with a Mom like that?
We’ve seen the She-Goats stink up the joint before. But the weird thing about the season just underway is Cayla’s sudden lack of confidence in her daughter’s team. “High expectations goeth before an upset.” “The customer is always wrong.” Covering her eyes when Kei$ha makes a free throw. Look at her lack of expression as she bemoans their lack of teamwork. What the hell has gotten into her?
