Cool, so FTR was actually her “boyfriend”, more or less. I thought it was more of a one-time thing. And no “coercion”, actual or implied. Interesting. I guess this will disappear from the “official” FW site if and when he ever gets that thing going again, unless he REALLY doesn’t care about continuity.
Uh-oh, Everybody else had been drinking and she wanted to be a part of it, too. Which means Les will have Frankie convicted for taking advantage of someone who wasn’t fully coherent. Hell, given Batiuk’s penchance for retconning the past, I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to rewrite history so that Lisa never had sex before marriage and certainly never had a baby while a teenager. Oh, I’m sure he’s thought about it, but realized even he could never get away with that one. But as long as it was a lousy lay and there was drinking (at least according to the flashbacks), who’s to take issue if he suddenly turns the event into date rape. There must be a reason why the actual original strips haven’t surfaced onto the website; he’s probably still working on the revisions.
Oh, and the 11-9-01 strip confirms the Act II setting as just after the WTC terrorist attacks. So that means the strip’s real-time is now 2023? Does anybody even still care about that ridiculous notion?
Jeffcoat: I thought about it when I saw that “Frankie at 46” model sheet. Of course he meant 56, no? He just goes on like it never happened now, but then how do we explain Summer?
Funky Winkerbean made its debut on March 27, 1972. Click here for a countdown of days until the fiftieth anniversary and hopefully Tom Batiuk's retirement.

Thanks for the arch, it was nice to catch up. Good Lord, the smirks…. a match made in heaven.

Funky Winkerbean plots have more holes than Blackburn, Lancashire.
The transformation of Lisa from “slug with wig” to “blond twink” is truly one of the most hilarious examples of terrible artwork in comics.
