Again: in the interest of full disclosure, I never served in the military, and have nothing but the utmost respect for those who have. That said…we know that in the considerable amount of time spent by Wally “in the shit”, he was nearly blown up by a landmine, survived a chopper crash, and spent God knows how many years as a POW. But what incident seems to haunt him the most? The time that he nearly killed a young civilian. Fortunately, Buddy’s PTSD-sense begins to tingle, causing his ears to fly up; he joins his Master on the bunk and Wally can resume catching some “Zzzz’s”.

Bud Light
So this is why Wally needs a service dog: so he doesn’t have to get off his ass to switch off a light? Never heard of the Clapper?
Buddy Love
OK. I really can’t figure out what is happening in these three panels. Wally admits to being understandably tired. Buddy responds to this statement by resting his head on Wally’s thigh and gazing lovingly at him? Then Rachel assures Buddy that she’s “got this one” while Wally leers in her direction? What the hell was Buddy fixing to do?
Life with Buddy
Back at home, Buddy gets acquainted with his new mistress. Wally raises the dog owner/parent parallel again, but instead of a five-year-old, Buddy is likened this time to a newborn. I like how pleased with himself Wally appears in panel 3.
