At Dawn, We Ride
Is anyone else as happy as I am to see Cody and Owen? After a fourth-quarter 2010 dealing with Les’ endless grief, Wally’s (hopefully resolved) anxieties, and Becky’s life turned upside-down by the band turkey sale, an appearance by Funky and Les’ 21st century teenage analogues means that we are back to teh funneh! But not before we spend the first two panels on exposition, courtesy of Chin Pubes Owen. The Marching Goats are off to the Queen City for the MENC North Central Division Conference, which, whaddaya know, is actually happening this week in the real world.
Stump the Band
You know something? For the folks who only read the funnies on Sunday, Funky Winkerbean is still a “comic” strip. Sunday-only readers have been spared the oil spill cleanup, Funky’s physical therapy and nursing-home visit, Wally’s battle with PTSD, the rescue-dog thingy, the grueling band turkey sale, and most of the never-ending book tour. The Sunday Funkiverse offers tales of Scapegoat football and girls’ hoops, Funky picking out a car, Mr. Kablichnik and his wacky class…and now today, with Les lying amongst plane wreckage for all we know, it’s time for Band Hi-Jinks.
