Ahhh-haaa! I knew Owen was up to something with the way he was holding that phone all suspiciously the other day. Now he has all the evidence Principal Nate needs to put a stop to the big Metamucil theft ring that’s plaguing WHS. These kids today and their regular bowel movements, I’ll tell you what. I just hope there’s something in the Big WHS Student Handbook about bullying being banned because if there isn’t, poor Owen is f*cked once Wedgemen discovers he filmed him without expressed written or verbal consent.
Coming tomorrow: Nate consults the Big WHS Student Handbook and discovers there’s no rule against using and/or stealing Metamucil (or any fiber-based supplements or laxatives) on school grounds. Nate angrily dismisses a confused (redundant, I know) Owen from his office, telling him he’s tired of this shit. After realizing it’s another awful Batom pun, everyone groans in disgust and vows to stop reading FW forever, only to read it again the next day.
This dialog fits the artwork better IMO.
Well, let’s give credit where it is due. We’re seeing a story about actual teenagers and issues that affect teenagers. Admittedly it was told in a very stupid manner but still considering how many arcs recently have been about adults, dead Lisa, or people of indeterminate age who were connected to dead Lisa this is a step up.

You know us well, Epicus!
Say, whatever happened to that promised arc wherein Funky’s wife goes hunting for comic books for Funky’s son?
Oh you mean the video showing Goth Girl having non-prescription meds in school….documenting the schools case against her under their “zero-tolerance” policy.
Too bad Nate is forced to expel her and she has to go back to West Virginia.
Owen was holding his phone (very conspicuously, I might add) with the screen facing Wedgeman. Unless he switched the camera facing, he just got incriminating footage of the cafeteria floor.
BC: Just a hunch but the big upcoming “comic book Cory” arc would seem to have “that holiday spirit” written all over it. From what little I’ve read regarding that arc, I think it’ll be fascinating to see how TB tries to portray a character having difficulty finding an obscure comic book in Westview. It’s such a huge leap for him as a writer.
“I’m sorry, Owen, but the deadline for the ‘Westview’s Dumbest Phone Videos’ competition was last week. and Principal Nate isn’t accepting any further submissions. And, anyway, getting footage of the aftereffects of Wedgeman chugging the Metamucil pills would have been much funnier.”
Instead of a fiber kickstarter, I think it would have been much funnier if Wedgeman had bullied his way into taking gender-specific medication, because then it would have been punishment enough to have to walk around school for the rest of the year sporting mutant man-boobs.
Bullying! Another non-flinching look at a subject matter ripped from last year’s headlines!
I had this shit figured two days ago, but with two likes, well, who knew? Whateverrrr. Today, I would have loved to have seen Nate rise up from under Cayla’s desk in P3. “What is it, man? I’m busy down here!”
“Bullying! Another non-flinching look at a subject matter ripped from last year’s headlines!”
Don’t worry, the arc will never complete. They never do, before another nonsensical one starts up, leaving you hanging over the edge of the cliff in mid air like Wiley Coyote.
Just like in Crankshaft, something starts that has possibility and then it moves on to something stupid like a trip to China.
After seeing Owen in profile, I’m wondering how the football team hasn’t adopted his chullo pattern for their helmets.
TB cranks the stupidmeter up another notch. It is on 13 now. Wedgeman should have realized Owen was shooting video of him.
Metamucil: “Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.” Oddly enough, those are also the symptoms of a Funky Winkerbean overdose.
the Arc that will not die. does this strip have an edtior? is there anybody out there?
Someone should warn Owen that snitches get stitches. Even Nate has to abide by the rulebook, you know.
Oh, wacky kids these days with their metamucil related high jinks!
Yeah Owen’s a rat! Kids don’t tell on other kids to the principal. Thats a good way to not have any friends anymore.
Glad you guys are enjoying my half-assed Photoshopping, I just recently found an old disc containing an old-fashioned “cracked” version which I’ve installed on my newer laptop, so I’m on a PS binge of sorts.
beckoningchasm: In the past, I stopped reading FW on at least four or five different occasions, sometimes for years at a stretch. Act II was just that maddening, especially that insufferable Lisa. But I always come back.
Those Metamucil capsules had a street value of 10¢ each. Wedgeman would have been better off stealing rather than smashing that sandwich. Of course, Wedgeman is an idiot and is a creature of Batominc’s imagination, but I repeat myself.
