Your humble scribe was out of town for a family gathering this weekend, and had neither the time nor the inclination to get in a lather over today’s comic. So I’m just gonna put it out there and let y’all have at it.
Cell-ing the Story
Wow! Today’s strip looks like it’s in 3-D! Weirdly-lit Les offers his explanation to weirdly-lit Cayla as to why he is kissing suddenly blonde Susan.
To his credit, Les recounts the circumstances as they happened, and to her credit, or not, Cayla unquestioningly accepts his account. “Some student must have snapped” the picture, no doubt while watching from the grassy knoll. Totally plausible, as is Cayla’s estimate of “five million people on the internet”.
Oh, Snapshot
“I don’t understand this! Susan’s sweater was red, not purple, and I was wearing my trademark yellow shirt! And Jeffcoat Wayne and billytheskink have established that nobody else was in the room to take that picture!”
Pirate Cayla looks ready to keelhaul Les in panel 3!
Picture This
Just then Cayla’s “I-Phone” rang, with its special “This is Keisha, I’m Sending You Something” ringtone. And shit got real.

Crazy It Up, Yo
Les, as long as you and Cayla keep talking like this, everybody who reads this blog is going to continue picking you to pieces. You two are supposed to be adults. With kids. You’ve been with the opposite sex before. Go with the damn flow!
And…”crazy things up”? Before I commit this to the Batiuktionary, has anybody heard this phrase uttered in that context? ‘Cause Google’s giving results like “doing crazy things up there” or “making crazy things up“…but I haven’t come across this as a self-contained expression along the lines of “screw things up” (which Cayla uses in panel 1). I think the headgear and the use of the word crazy (“you so crazy!”) is TB’s idea of keeping Cayla’s African-American identity “real”.
