Book Tour of Duty redux
DavidO here, filling in for TFHackett, who is currently out doing a “Son of Stuck Funky” book tour.
It must have been a slow day in the shading department when this strip was colored up; what’s with the dramatic shadowing? Maybe they’re trying to imply a nuke just went off a mile down the road from Les’s house but I doubt it. In either case, I’m glad Les said “Cayla” at the beginning of the strip, otherwise we’d have no idea who that white woman coming up the steps to snog was! Once Cayla’s up on the porch, Les does his best Ash impersonation from the end of Army of Darkness, complete with the white stripe on the side of his noggin.
Summer Break
Your humble scribe was out of town for a family gathering this weekend, and had neither the time nor the inclination to get in a lather over today’s comic. So I’m just gonna put it out there and let y’all have at it.

As he struggles to stow Summer’s crutches in the back of their tiny Batiukmobile®, Les halfheartedly opines that maybe a basketball career isn’t in the cards for his daughter. Plucky Summer sees through his BS, and shuts him up with a non-sequitur which I’m convinced Batiuk found over at tvtropes.org. I was so excited when I saw this that I posted to the forums there, only to have the tropers dismiss me as a n00b.
