Kick This

Link to today’s strip

Wish I could kick both of them, in the head, repeatedly. “I’m fat, I’m slow, I’m aging terribly, I’m dying”…yeah yeah yeah, Funky, we know. Give it a rest already. Every time these two tools jog together it’s the same old story. And look at Les today, with his look of condescending faux-“concern” for his obese pal…what a dick.

  1. Whoever the real-life inspiration for Funky is, Tom Batiuk really really really hates him.

  2. Hey, look Funky is going through massive cardiac arrest..,and he’s still able to spin it into a lame pun!! Oh, well…maybe Funky can share double bed with his dad at the nursing home.

  3. With all this jogging Flunky is doing, he should be in shape for “the coming reunion” by the year 2057 or so…

  4. We had the “Stroke” arch… now how about a heart attack/triple by-pass story just to lighten things up.

  5. Les’ odd pose in the first panel actually looks like it would waste a lot of energy and cause greater risk of strain to his limbs than it actually resembles any sort of real world sprint.

For all Tom’s loving attention to gazebos and bricks, one would think he’d occasionally glance at human reference material. Just a thought!

  6. “What do you say we kick it in…” Yet another phrase I have never heard uttered anywhere apart from this comic.

  7. I think it’s safe to say we should expect a lot of this “lite n’ breezy” stuff for the next few months. BatTom poured (chortle) everything he had into that Frankie mega-arc, thus I’d expect him to tone down the “seriousness” for a while and pound us with week after week of this sort of boring drollery until the big Cory Comic Book arc arrives later in the year. Hey he’s gotta get that forty weeks of filler in there somewhere, you know?

  8. Josh Tcat makes a good point. Funky does work hard trying to do right by his dying hometown and its sad-sack residents, and his reward for all of this is going jogging with Les…

This week is as depressing as anything we saw in the Frankie comes from Hollywood storyline.
