Meanwhile, at Los Alamos

Hopefully, today’s strip. wraps up the Scapegoats Suck arc… for this month. Maybe forever, judging from the fact it looks like they just played the game next to an atomic bomb test.

See ya snarkers next week! Thanks for slogging through this arc!

  1. Bull is the worst coach in the history of time. He exhibits no leadership abilities whatsoever, and I doubt he could even blow his whistle effectively. He has no confidence in his team and what’s worse, he takes every opportunity to express his hopelessness in the most smarmy, smart-ass way possible. Why is this lug even on the news? If this is Batboy’s ongoing effort to shame and ridicule high school football, he;s doing a swell job.

  2. So the current all-time receptions leader has one, right? Yeah, ha. Anyhow, I never usually admit this but that big academic-scandal-sanctions-shambles mega-arc the ended with Bull taking over the football team was terrific. The violations, the sanctions, the shambles, the take-over…THAT was his Pulitzer-worthy work, not that Lisa drivel. Man, the one where Bull first heard about the academic violations and sanctions was something, I’ll tell you what. It was like TB put aside his grudge against the Bull character and really gave him his own “moment”, you know? It was like he literally ripped it right from today’s sports page, like literally. Ripped it. From today’s sports page.

I don’t remember exactly when that one ran. But I believe it was before the arc where it was explained why Bull gets interviewed all the time and after the one where Bull didn’t say anything self-depreciating, defeatist or stupid, in case you want to look for it. It’ll probably be in the upcoming FW compilation paperback, “Bull’s Hits, Vol.1” featuring page after page of the same gag….er, I mean football gags. Available at dying local book stores everywhere.

  3. WTF? What academic sanctions? Why haven’t we heard about them before? I can understand why WHS is under them, considering who teaches there. But why didn’t TB mention them before now? Or write a storyline about them? It would have been more interesting than the garbage put out over the past year.

  4. Fred C. (@oddnoc): Only $24.99, or $15.99 for a ruined….er, I mean autographed copy. The beauty of “Bull’s Hits” is that if you lose your place it doesn’t matter, although that’s true of the strip in general too, I suppose.

  5. You know what the most moronic part of this strip is? How the fuck can you be on pace to make two catches in a season? If you make one catch in a game, you’d be on pace for a catch a game. A minimum 11 catches. if you make zero catches in a game, you’d be on pace for a goose egg for receptions. If you managed two catches in a game. You’d be on pace for at least 22 receptions. The only way Bull’s remark makes sense is if after making two catches in a game, he catastrophically tore his knee ligament and will forever be unable to walk properly for the rest of his life. That admittedly is a probable scenario given Westview. Or the other possibility is that Bull after seeing Blair make catches has decided to bench him forever because of his brilliance as a head coach.

It’s absolutely amazing how the concept of Bull being a shitty coach is avoided in these strips!!! Truly amazing!! It’s almost as if Batiuk is trying turn Bull into the same paragon of manhood as Les Moore. And it’s failing in the exact same way.
