I wonder how Rocky got Funky and Holly to pose for photos while wearing Cory’s helmet? Oh…I see what’s going on here…never mind. I was just temporarily confused by Roxanne’s incredibly clunky and unwieldy dialog there in panel five. An understandable mistake. Too bad Cory is leaving right when he’s starting to get obnoxious again, but meh, good riddance otherwise.

We all know if you talk about your picture of your loved ones back home, you’re pretty much doomed. What happens when you talk about someone else’s loved one’s picture? Do they die, or do you have to take the bullet for them?
I love the appalled look on Funky and Holly’s faces when they find out Cory actually cares about them. TB nailed it again with human reactions. /s
Does Rocky look anything like the person depicted with her hair down? Cory continues his regression into pre-pubescence. And nothing looks more depressing than Ma and Pa Winkerbean moping up in the title box. Does Batiuk realize how poorly he depicts his protagonists?
Boy- can you count how many chins there are in the header panel?!
What’s that small black thing Cory has clutched in his left hand in a death-grip? Could it be Funky’s heart? I wonder–look at Funky in panel five, that’s either Funky’s dad or the worst automaton ever. If Cory has stolen his heart, that could be the start of a kind of a cool arc. So it’s probably just a loaf of beef jerky. Can’t have anything cool in Funky Winkerbean.
In other news, Carla isn’t here to see her daughter off because, based on how she appeared the last time we saw her, she’s now a withering skeleton with flesh oozing off by the handful. And that would set off the security alarms at any airport, be fair.
Coming soon: Les Moore’s new book, “Carla’s Story.”
Rusty, I think today the part of Rocky is being played by the white version of Keisha.

Can’t be…she’s already married to Les…
