The Urge for Going

“Now that I’ve hired Darin” (I thought Tony made that decision)…Funky gets down to the business of planning a getaway. The absence of paying customers at the counter affords him plenty of space to lay out his travel brochures. Maybe hotshot Darin should be given the task of “managing” Cory while the Winkerbeans are away. Last time Funky and Holly left him on his own, things got a little out of hand

If You Can't Dazzle 'em with Brilliance…

After Les has softened them up, it’s Darin’s turn to show Tony and Funky what he brings to Montoni’s table. Young Fairgood’s eyes take on a maniacal glint as he lays out his mobile marketing strategy. But Darin’s real strategy is to bullshit these two suckers into thinking that he has all the answers. Which he accomplishes in a mere two panels.

Stepfather Meets the Godfather

True to his word, Les engages in a sit-down on Darin’s behalf, with Don Montoni and his consigliere. Les frames the discussion in terms of how hiring Darin would benefit Funky, since Tony already spends more time away from the business than in it.

It’s heartening to know that, at least in Westview, “things are turning around”, since it was less than a year ago that Montoni’s was struggling. Don’t expect to see Darin the MBA flipping dough or bussing tables with Wally and Rache: Les sees his stepson in a management role. After all: Darin did design Montoni’s website.

A Case of the Tuesdays

Moving day continues… He may have issues with meeting deadlines, but Mopey Pete is nothing if not loyal. He has moved beyond relinquishing his “Darin’s Best Friend” status to Jessica five (ten? fifteen?) years ago, and is now content to gaze adoringly at his blond ex-bestie as he schleps boxes up to the guest suite at Moore Manor. Pete must not be sleeping well…in panel 2, he’s sporting bags under his eyes to rival those of the elderly Moe Howard.

Movin' On Up

There’ll be no confusing Summer with mopey Pete today, since they’re both in the same “shot”. Darin wastes no time moving his worldly goods into Moore Manor. Les shares the “cool” news with Cayla, who apparently is still laboring under the assumption that Les is telepathic. Listen, girl: as long as you continue to keep your thoughts to yourself instead of telling Les what time it is, you totally deserve every thoughtless, demeaning insult he bestows on you…
