“It’s not like you’re gonna actually win or anything.” This is either clumsy foreshadowing (we know Les is gonna win that Kilimanjaro trip) or Bull is reverting to being mean to Les like back in high sch– oh, wait, that never happened.
The solidarity twixt football team and band is demonstrated again in today’s strip. Rather than actually depict the band, TB keeps them out of the frame, lest they detract attention from the real focal point of panel one, Becky’s painstakingly rendered pinned up party-blower left sleeve.
So the clusterf**k that is the Save the Sports Raffle hurtles onward at breakneck speed, thanks in no small part to the estimable interpersonal skills of Chamber of Commerce president Winkerbean. No doubt it will be a smashing success, even with less than a week to publicize the event. “All of the local eateries” will be providing the food, meaning the menu will consist of pizza (natch), kebabs and tacos.
It’s strips like today’s that make your humble scribe just want to…auughhhhh! “Body up”? A guy who’s lived his life around sports doesn’t know that it’s “buddy up”? This “meeting” between Bull, Funky and Les (and what is Les even doing here?) has degraded into a game of “Let’s Get Bull to Say Stupid Things”.
