Les continues to distinguish himself as Westview’s, nay, Ohio’s…hell, the world’s most clueless jackass. He decides to “cheer up” Summer and Keisha by bringing them to Montoni’s. The girls stare at their pizza in disgust while Cayla absently fingers a blemish on her chin. I’m sure that the next stop is Les’ favorite park bench.

“I was just hoping to make a different kind of splash this year.” Despite the “best turnout ever”, Les is not satisfied. Even Cayla is telling him to chillax. What’s the matter, Les, has the rain kept all your blue-haired book-signing groupies away?

Electrocution hazards be damned, the good people of Westview show their support for our hardy runners. I’m sure the three lady runners in panel 2 are generic “extras”, but damn if they don’t look like (from left) Station Wagon Susan, some kid from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the sorely-missed Chien.

And the wacky hi-jinks ensue. Les’ lack of event management skills (despite having organized this event for the past four years) puts the participants at the mercy of Centerville F.D.’s water cannon. This being the Funkiverse, the fireman, just following orders, lacks the common sense to shut off the hose, and the runners lack the common sense to run around the deluge. Oh, boy.
