Wedgie-ton D.C.

Today’s strip feels like a “twofer”, as if Batiuk had an extra gag that he wanted to shoehorn into this Washington trip arc. The first panel contains some of TB’s trademark exposition. Even though Cody and Owen are no longer freshman, it appears they still are on the receiving end of daily wedgies, though hopefully the Magic Marker attacks have ceased.

Meanwhile in panel 2, I guess the sight of the White House’s many windows has triggered an OCD moment in Les.

Conference News

Oh, you forgot that Jinx was a “sports junkie“? You must not remember her excitement when step-mom Linda signed her up to play girls’ softball a few summers ago (and guess who she volunteered to coach?). The news of the She-Goats’ advancing to the state tournaments is greeted with utter indifference by everyone but Summer, Cayla, and Les, who is smirking up a storm. Jim the science teacher isn’t even looking at the TV; he just stares into space, contemplating retirement.

Banq-wit

That dimple (visible even at a distance in panel 2) signifies that Becky’s saying something witty (or thinks she is). And Harriet can’t help but remind her husband what a humorless prick he was when he had Becky’s job.

Celeb attendees at the band banquet include (L-R) Jabba the Hutt, John Cleese, Schroeder from Peanuts and Milhouse Van Houten.
