Hair Today…

Not much to say about this one other than today’s strip could have been/should have been a three-panel daily. Oh, and that since high school, Funky is aging at 1.5x the speed of Les while Cindy is aging at .5x the speed of everyone else.

Hair loss is the least of your problems Funky. I’d be more worried about how you jog incessantly but yet you are still as fat as a pregnant humpback whale. And this is where the true horror lies. You have been willingly tolerating Les Moore’s presence and have nothing to show for it. Yes, I think this is the point Funky where you life has really failed you!

Cirrhosis will age you. As for Les, he’s a vampire.

On the other hand, look at all the glorious leaves!

  4. Tried an experiment recently over the past couple of weeks – wanted to ask the Author about why the strip turned black and white so I wrote a message on the Contact page at the FW site. Each time, though, and on 3 different computers, the message would not transmit, giving me some vague error message regarding the “security” of the form. Has anyone else ever tried to send him a message? You think the error was legit, or has he just disabled that section – without making it obvious – since he figures he’d just get a ton of snark mail sent his way. Come to think of it, I don’t detect any official or active or otherwise legit social media presence for FW or TB…

I guessing this became a multi-panel Sunday strip because Batiuk had extra “falling leaves” panels to use up?

@Fred Blurt – C’mon. This is a guy who barely understands how social media and computers work. I find it incredible that he uses Manga Studio when he does the comic (though I suspect he still inks the strips by hand, scans them into the computer, and then uses Manga Studio as a coloring book tool.)

All those falling leaf panels, though. I thought we were going to get another Lisa strip today.

  7. Yeah. Makes total sense. But he does make those faux-contemporary references now and then, like Buddy log and the DMZ site. (The latter, I am certain, he feels is a whopper of a pun. What more Vietnam era yucks can we expect?) I’m betting he’s been burned in the past and is too chickenshit to meet his public except when it’s a built in adoring one at a book fair.

See compare this strip with the strips of a couple weeks back with Cindy worried about her looks to Mason when she’s clearly still hot. Funky and Cindy are *the same age*! They went to high school together, they used to be married to each other. But Funky is fat, old, balding and gray haired. Cindy looks like she could be his daughter now. Has Cindy secretly been having plastic surgery and face lifts? Or has Funky aged prematurely?

  9. Double Sided Scooby Snack

The Dreamer — The answer is easy. Batty lacks the artistic talent to draw a still-attractive 50-something woman. So he makes her look 20. There are lines and sags NO woman can avoid by a certain age. But that takes too much effort. Ehhh… Just make her look 20, when EVERYONE is at least fairly cute.

I firmly believe that the smug, smirking looks the “young” versions of the characters give us mirrors the same exact look as that of the artist’s as he draws them. We get it the message already! It’s Funky; and they’re the world’s oldest 40+ year olds.

On the bright side, the leaves were nice. Undeniably the best part of today’s strip!

  11. More pissing and moaning because his bad character has made him age before his time. Loverly.
