If You Can't Dazzle 'em with Brilliance…

After Les has softened them up, it’s Darin’s turn to show Tony and Funky what he brings to Montoni’s table. Young Fairgood’s eyes take on a maniacal glint as he lays out his mobile marketing strategy. But Darin’s real strategy is to bullshit these two suckers into thinking that he has all the answers. Which he accomplishes in a mere two panels.

Stepfather Meets the Godfather

True to his word, Les engages in a sit-down on Darin’s behalf, with Don Montoni and his consigliere. Les frames the discussion in terms of how hiring Darin would benefit Funky, since Tony already spends more time away from the business than in it.

It’s heartening to know that, at least in Westview, “things are turning around”, since it was less than a year ago that Montoni’s was struggling. Don’t expect to see Darin the MBA flipping dough or bussing tables with Wally and Rache: Les sees his stepson in a management role. After all: Darin did design Montoni’s website.

Mi Casa, Su Casa

Major thanks once again to Stuckfunky for a stellar week of guest blogging!

Today we find Delicate Genius Les in a particularly magnanimous mood. He sure is het up about getting Darin and Jessica to stay in his home, and uses the occasion to crow about that book of his that we thought never got published. (I’ve taken the liberty of ratcheting up Les’ already-insufferable smugness a few more notches [right]).
And what a sport: he’s going to get MBA Darin an interview at Montoni’s Pizza. Darin takes all of a nanosecond to take Les up on his offer, much to the delight of tiny-fisted Summer.

Is that Summer, wearing her Dad’s green shirt? Nah, it’s Our Pete, slaving away over his “Pineapple” laptop (I thought Pete’d be more of a Pear guy). He spent all afternoon “Googling” himself, eh? So that’s what the young people are calling it these days. I wonder what kind of faces TB makes when he Googles himself?

Pete’s disembodied head in panel one resembles Porch Boy from Deliverance in a Summer Moore wig…
