You’ll Need More Than That To Save THAT Ass

Too bad there wasn’t a self-destruct button. That’s a fairly advanced feature for an Estonian surplus car, I have to admit. Funky’s parallel parking skills probably come in real handy when navigating Westview’s bustling downtown area, or when he enlists a couple of moderately-sized people to push that thing off the road when it breaks down again. Sweet mother of God I hope this means he passed, got his license back and this thing ends already because he’s entering “book-launch-tour” territory here with this solid month of Funky’s boring antics. You know things are challenging when you’re yearning for a week of Wally or Owen or ANYTHING but more Funky.

  1. Once again. Batiuk didn’t do the research. The driving portion of the Ohio drives test doesn’t include parallel parking. That state replaced it almost 40 years ago (when I took Driver’s Ed in Ohio) with a maneuverability test. This is a video of it: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=ohio+driver%27s+license+maneuverability+test&view=detail&mid=1A957671C9E7FC6A099C1A957671C9E7FC6A099C&FORM=VIRE

  2. Oops’s! Driver’s test.

Oh no!!! Judging by the banner, Leslie Moore returns next week!

So are we supposed to believe that Funky failed or nearly failed the other parts of his road test? The parts that are considerably easier than parallel parking?

What’s next, Funky’s wreck with Cell Phone Sally being retconned as being the result of Funky’s terrible driving skills?

Oh, come on. There’s bound to be a week or two of Funky having his picture taken. Then waiting for the license to be printed. Then paying for it. Then trying to remember where he parked.

I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the copyright on Batiuk’s website has “Batom, Inc” misspelled as “Bantom, Inc”. I think that represents Batiuk’s general attitude towards his “craft” as well as just about anything else could.

  7. It doesn’t surprise me that someone who doesn’t much care about the online world can’t be asked to get that straight. If he blows off getting a driving test wrong as being ‘right’ because it’s called ‘writing’, he’s not going to much care about anything else.

Only Batty could work it out so that Funkwanker is saved from failing his test by cheating on parallel parking — and the examiner saw him cheat. Apparently, even Batty thought this was a profoundly stupid and contrived storyline, and couldn’t wait to get out of it any way he could.

@Jim in Wis.: I really wanted to give you a thumbs down for alerting me to Les’ pending appearance.

@spacemanspiff: I noticed Batiuk is hawking books with his link. I read some of the Amazon reviews. My favorite: “I was disappointed when I received this book as a gift.”
