She Who Laughs Last

Link to today’s strip.

I think that summarizes today’s strip pretty well.  It has irrelevant images, repetition, and a genial yet cutting accusation.

But if we want to make it more specific, we can.  We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity.

This illustrates the entire problem with this week’s “story.”  These people aren’t likeable; we wish to see them harmed.

It’s like watching a very slow train wreck, where the train very slowly tumbles down a steep hill, lands with a thud then slowly slides down another hill where it lands in a deep body of water, where it very slowly sinks to the bottom. And all the while everyone in the train is screaming for it to stop. BanTom should include a downloadable laugh track MP3 file on that blog of his, so readers can play it while they peruse his catalog of ancient tropes and dusty leaden gags. This is possibly one of the least imaginative things I’ve ever seen, even by FW standards. How anyone could have packed this up and sent it off to the syndicate without vomiting in embarrassment is beyond me, I was embarrassed just reading it.

  2. @BChasm Man that Ultravox reference is deeeeeep.

I guess some children were left behind. With good reason this time.

Careful how you answer, Durwood. She’s clearly dangerously unstable. In fact, that was probably the Plantman on the phone with tips on how to “prune” you. On the plus side, though, there’s Ultravox! Cool!

  5. If I cared about these irritating drones, I’d worry that Boy Lisa just tanked his marriage. Since I wish they’d all die in a cancer fire, I find myself not caring that he won’t learn shit all from teaching her that he don’t trust her.

Perhaps the syndicate needs a contrasting strip to make Luann seem like it’s written by Thucydides…..

I must say, TB’s notions of how modern systems of romance operate is stuck in the 70s… 😉

Alcohol, laughing gas, likely a combination of both. It’s Blondie’s latest mocumentary, The Downward Spiral or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bum.

I’ve come to expect this strip to be mind-bendingly lame, but now it’s just confusing. What the hell is even supposed to be going on here?

This is really at the point where I’m starting to think someone needs to check with the syndicate. I have a feeling that whoever’s supposed to be looking at this crap before it’s sent off to be published died years ago in his office and nobody’s noticed yet.

Batty has checked out for the summer…oh wait, he hasn’t been checked in for a long time now.
