I had no idea Les was teaching a class in comic books but it makes sense, considering Westview’s entire economy runs on the currency of comics, pizza and heartache.
It’s almost weird seeing Les without his yellow shirt in today’s strip— it’s like Charlie Brown without his striped shirt!
Jon loves happy endings. Ugh. I’m going to walk away from my keyboard, enjoy my Friday night and try to not think too much about the visual that Jon’s reference gives me in today’s strip.
And, whoa. Did Jon even think to mention to Holly that all of the Starbucks Jones comics were already collected into an affordable, easy-to-purchase digest? Or was he too blinded by the dollar signs in his eyes every time Holly reached for her purse?
SosfdavidO here, finally feeling a slight twinge of interest in what Rocky has planned in today’s strip! Considering how much money these bright-eyed youngsters probably lost by dumping those rare comics at the nearest store around and buying a diamond ring (See the infamous, industry-shaking 1982 article, “Have You Ever Tried To Sell A Diamond Ring?”) if they have any hope for a bright future they’d better be on the way to rob a bank.
SosfdavidO here, and that 90’s “record scratch” sound you just heard just came up because in today’s strip, Rocky had the notion to celebrate their engagement with a drink! Funky is well off the wagon, or on, I can’t remember which metaphor applies, so instead of just politely apologizing, comes up with a visual pun. Sure, it’s a groaner, but at least we got her away from that hideous couch.
SosfDavidO here! And though I know these characters are in the midst of a deep, important conversation about these two lovebug’s plans after their wedding in today’s strip, one detail has caught my eye and I can’t look at anything else.
That chair is pretty much the most disturbing thing in the strip lately and that’s saying a lot. It’s like Ed Gein murdered a Sasquatch and made furniture with the pelt. If that doesn’t send Rocky running back home to her parents nothing will.
