Today’s comic is much more entertaining when reimagined as a Sunday strip:
Because She's Dying!
I read today’s strip and suddenly had a hunch as to why TB chose to elevate second-stringer Ann Fairgood to such a prominent role. It took her years, but Fishstick Annie has gone from equipment girl all the way to assistant coach of the (Division III) State Champs! Her life is now complete. Now she’s taking a mental picture of the empty arena. Next month: Ann visits the doctor and gets some very bad news…
Can't Leave Good Enough Alone
I hope Coach Bull has had his flu shots! He could catch something from hugging sweaty Summer. Leave it to the extremely anal retentive Les to quickly dispel the warmth of the moment with his grammar policing. Jealous much, “Dad”?
A tip of the SoSF beret to Tom Batiuk on his 65th birthday!
Goodbye, Columbus
Today’s strip, I guess, is for the benefit of those who don’t pick up a newspaper on Saturday or Sunday. Hence, TB hastily whips up a couple more generic Channel One reporters to provide a “wrapup”. Apparently the lady reporter was a forceps baby, judging from her distorted head, while the male reporter—Westview really does need its own Marty Moon—sports an intriguing pinky ring. He also calls the AnnieGoats “the state division one champions”, although the trophy seen in Sunday’s strip clearly says “Division III”. Just sayin’.
Celebrate Good Times? Come On!
I would’ve welcomed a “Sundays with Crazy Harry” strip here, but I suppose TB’s gotta let the Sunday-only readers revel in the Westview girls’ triumph. Fishstick Annie cuts down the net— jeez, somebody hold that ladder! And the gray-jacketed OSHAA guy (they all wear gray jackets) passes out the Ohio-shaped medallions (round on both ends and “hi” in the middle!). Superstar Summer and Second Fiddle Keisha pass out the hugs to the nameless scrubs. The rather cheap looking trophy is hoisted, Stephen Hawking Annie admires her medallion, and Channel One is on the scene to record Bull spouting his idiocy.
Epicus Doomus
March 9, 2012 at 11:42 pm…Now for the Annie Goats victory lap, which TB will no doubt treat like V-E Day or something.
Yeah…that’s coming…
