Comical Tragedy

Back to Starbuck’s Jones’ arc in today’s strip! The good news is, there is only two more comics to go, and both appear to be owned by Chester Hagglemore, who apparently needs a moniker despite the fact his last name is a pun.

Holly looks a bit green around the gills at the news, and considering she just took out a second mortgage on the house to pay for the last issue of Starbucks Jones I can’t blame her. She’s probably already wondering what Funky’s spleens would go for, or if her womanly charms could persuade Chester out of these last two issues.

Props to anyone who gets the obscure Hollywood reference in today’s strip! I will be out of town this evening but will leave this up as a placeholder for snarkers far funnier than I!

Back from my trip! Let’s see how Les’s arc played out with the Sunda– are you kidding me!? Cody and Owen?! What about the arc we just suffered through for the last 6 days!? There was no resolution at all! The Series Finale to Alf had better closure.

Fraidy Cat

So on Monday, it was “Woe is me, no one has read my script or replied” but by today’s strip everyone has read it and is sending him feedback. The cat is making less and less sense the more he sticks around. It’s almost like there’s a gaggle of tulpa-cat loving housewives that just think Le Chat Blue is the best thing since Garfield. Can a Le Chat Blue hoodie be far behind? Viral Web memes? Macy’s day parade balloons!?

I still wonder what universe Les lives in where a book about someone’s wife dying of cancer would generate massive amounts of interest in Hollywood. I mean, for heavens sake, this is what people want to see in movies this summer:

Intelligent Apes Over-Run Mankind
Tom Cruise Does Groundhog Day

Tweaker Man

Hoo-boy, SoSfDavidO here and I’m quaking with excitement! Big Cable saw the screenplay and thought it was killer! From the looks of today’s strip, there might be a change or two needed. Of course, this immediately veers into unbelievable land.

Lisa’s Story (the book) was a huge hit, right? Remember the book tours? The interviews? The fans lining up just to shake hands with the Amazing Les Moore? Why is the fact it was a huge hit a big deal? Think of it this way…

Hollywood: “Hey, Dan Brown, we just bought the rights to make “The DaVinci Code” into a movie! I mean, the book has been on the bestseller list for 3 years and everyone loves it…we just want to make one change..”

Dan Brown: “What’s that?”

“Hollywood: “The title is kinda bland. Needs some punch. How about “Murders and Medieval Art?”

Dan Brown: “Well, I’m sure that won’t confuse book fans. Let’s do it!”
