Sunday morning, praise the dawning

Link to today’s strip.

As twas ever thus, Sunday’s strip was not available for preview.   I’m going to guess that we’ll get a reprise of the previous week, with Funky and Holly gasbagging about texts and/or Cory, but as a guess, it’s just that.  The actual strip could be anything.  Funky and Les jogging, comic book tribute, anything at all.  Anything except good, of course.

Normally, I’d stay up long enough to add to the day’s analysis, but unlike Tom Batiuk, I have a real job that requires that I fulfill certain goals.  Unlike Tom Batiuk, if I fail to fulfill these goals, I could get fired, which would not be beneficial to me, though I would assume it would cause Mr. Batiuk some amusement, and perhaps some satisfaction.

But until the time when he has control over my life, I will continue to deny that to him, and I’m off.  See you folks on the funway, which is already in progress!

Sometimes a FW gag is just plain bad and that’s it. This is one of those times. This is one of those jokes he really should have run by a few people before he went with it.

Tonight on UPN, it’s the series premiere of My Twin Dad

  4. Oh. gody. Another strip in which Mort only seems to behave like a senile old man when Funky is talking to him. At some point, it’ll occur to the doctors that Funky is the problem and they’ll ban him from the home.

And yet another Batiuk & Ayers collaboration.

Landing a full time gig on the comics page is like a professor getting tenure. You never update your notes or tests, you have low paid assistants doing all the grunt work, etc.

A shame because there is a lot of talent out there. I often peruse various art sites and there is some great material. Surely they can find new cartoonists for the comics page.

I’ll take your word for it, but apparently the new “artist” of Nancy isn’t among them!

Funny you mention that, I was just looking at some of his stuff yesterday. We will see what happens, maybe Nancy will become preachy, get cancer, and then die a slow death, while Sluggo writes books about the experience.

  7. Soooo Mort’s so senile that he doesn’t know how network news works, but he does know what a “big crossover event” is. What effin’ ever. I like him better senile anyway.

We’re all waiting for Mort to cross over.
