You know what? I like today’s strip! I like it because in recreating a couple Act I scenes, TB has actually recalled the cartoony style of that period. Funky, Les and Crazy Harry, Holly and Cindy are their old 70s and 80s selves again. The punchlines are nothing to write home about, but I’ll settle for gentle humor over hamfisted melodrama any day of the week.
The high school flashback arc comes full circle, back to Les’ main crush, Kelly. Good luck striking up a “casual” conversation with her, Les, after she’s already seen her name written obsessively all over your notebook.
Almost midnight? Time for some huggin’ an’ a kissin’! Bull has loosened up with a few drinks, and Ann and Fred Fairgood exchange fond glances. Cayla and Susan each look for their man, but…where’s the host with the most? No doubt, he’s with a ghost.
TB cuts Cayla a little slack today by drawing her to look like Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats.
