I Have a Dream

Link to today’s strip.

Hello, fellow sufferers, BChasm back in the Agony Booth again after an extended hiatus.  Thanks to all, especially Epicus, who covered for me while Life Happened. (Honestly, you don’t want to know.)

And a Happy Martin Luther King Day to you all.    A reminder that there are things worth fighting for, and people willing to fight for them.

As opposed to other people who can’t be arsed to keep track of their own continuity.   Today’s strip is a good example…

…actually, today’s strip was unavailable for preview, but I’m betting the above remark holds true anyway.

Thanks to BillyTheSkink for an excellent hosting stint.  And, apropos of this, isn’t it the saddest aspect of this strip–the most Funky Winkerbeanesque aspect, if you will–that the most creative, hilarious and insightful things associated with this strip for the last ten years, come from the hosts and commentators on this site, and not from the comic itself?

If Tom Batiuk honestly had any sense of shame, this sort of thing would sting.

If.

IF.

“If” may be the harshest word in the English language.

Diplame-a

Well, with today’s strip, Wally has officially beaten Summer across the Kent State graduation stage. And so has Buddy. And Kay Kyser too. Sheesh…

Wait, Kent State? I thought Wally was taking classes at a community college. Granted, I have an uncle who calls Kent a community college. He went to Miami (the Ohio one) though, so his opinion is a little biased.

Also, be sure to check the throw-away panels today for a rare glimpse at Becky’s left arm back when it was still attached.

Thanks for reading my two weeks covering TB’s flotsam. SOSF hall-of-famer and hall-of-namer beckoningchasm will take the helm tomorrow.

Build the wall of text!

Well… today’s strip wades onto the first step of the deep deep pool that is American immigration and guest worker policy. This is what I imagine it would be like if Eeyore was a political talking head on one of the news networks.

I have no idea what Wally is talking about, and I hazard that he doesn’t either.

Adeela is apparently studying architecture, can we assume Wally is doing that as well? That should help him manage Montoni’s really well, better even than Rachel and her decades of experience would… Or will it help Adeela do that? Oh good grief! Are we headed toward Montoni’s sponsoring Adeela’s H-1B visa? *sigh*

Wot’s Adeela wit you? Eh?

Why is Adeela not excited about graduating from college in today’s strip?
The answer may be undeserving awards-bait… Film at 11.

Thank goodness Tony returned in time to set up this silly transition. I don’t know what we all would have done had Funky had to ask Rachel this rote and rhetorical question. Probably donned sackcloth and ashes…

Well, at least Chuck Ayers doesn’t use wavy panel borders for in-strip transitions from one place to another like TB did. I hate that.
